We are happy to announce a new addition to the
Irish Legends website. Dorothy V. Corson has given us permission to
provide a link to her new website,
The Spirit
of Notre Dame: Its History, Legends and Lore
This website contains human interest stories that are
meticulously researched and wonderfully written. They are unique and
fascinating, and many contain new and compelling pieces of history that
have never been fully investigated before. I must especially recommend
"Father Corby’s Favor Granted" which inspired the creation of Notre Dame's Grotto. What
that favor was has remained a mystery for over 100 years
The Spirit of Notre Dame: Its
History, Legends and Lore explores the
courage, devotion and determination that has been a constant theme in the history
of the University of Notre Dame du Lac. Starting with the founding "pioneer
spirit and fortitude" of Father Edward Sorin and his band of seven
Brothers, and reflected in Father Corby’s heroics at Gettysburg, this
spirit was exemplified in the teams and student body of the Rockne era,
and by the brilliance and leadership of Father Hesburgh into the modern
era.
