Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation The purpose of the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation is to speed the search for a cure by funding research and promoting worldwide interaction amoung scientists, research institutes and universities working on Niemann-Pick Type C and other pediatric neuro-degenerative diseases. Under the guidance of the Scientific Advisory Board the Foundation is in the process of funding research proposals at twelve institutions. Champions For Today: Mike McCoy, a star on Ara Parseghian’s 1969 team, is head of a youth outreach program called Champions For Today which help's young people deal with drug, crime and moral problems. Mike, with the support of the local business community, brings professional athletes to the school in a outreach program in which the athletes identify with the students by describing a few of the experiences from their career and life as a professional athlete. While using humor they emphasize the importance of decisions and the consequences of one's choices.
