REFLECTIONS FROM THE
DOME
Reflections will feature excerpts from books
with stories and memoirs about Notre Dame.
This
month's Reflections From the Dome will continue our
tradition of dedicating the February newsletter to George Gipp, one of
Notre Dame's greatest legends and icons. The highlight of the newsletter
will be an excerpt from Robert Burns' recent book Being Catholic,
Being American. The excerpt tells for the first time the fascinating
true story of Gipp's explusion from the University and his subsequent
reinstatement. It's an interesting look at the inside workings of the
school administration at the time and their relationship with the
leading political, business and industrial figures in South Bend.
